Who are the 2019 Winners of the President's Education Awards Program?

The President's Education Awards Program, sponsored by the U. S. Department of Education in partnership with the National Association of Elementary School Directors and the NASSP, was created to recognize and honor students who have achieved high academic goals through their hard work and dedication to learning. With this award, students can be presented with an unforgettable memory of their success.

To place an order, visit the President's Education Awards store. Here, individuals are granted individual recognition by the President and Secretary of Education of the United States, in partnership with the National Association of Elementary School Principals and the National Association of High School Directors. The award includes a letter of congratulations to the student and a certificate signed by the president, secretary and principal of the school. Unlike other award programs, the director has sole discretion to choose recipients based on their eligibility.

There is no limit on the number of awards as long as students meet the criteria set by the school for each award. Despite the uncertainty and challenges related to COVID-19, the program continued to accept and process nominations until July so that students could continue to be recognized for their achievements. A recent Homeroom blog shares stories of PEAP honorees graduating as a sign of their accomplishments and improvement. The Presidential Award for Educational Excellence is granted to students who have achieved academic excellence and are “graduating from elementary school (finishing 6th grade, moving up to 7th grade); high school (finishing eighth grade, moving up 9th grade); and high school (graduating from twelfth grade).

Since 1983, this program has honored elementary, middle and high school students who graduate for their achievements and hard work. Every year, thousands of elementary, middle and high schools participate in this program by recognizing deserving and eligible students.
